Lumbar belt: which model for which use
A lumbar belt supports the lower back and reminds you of a braced position. It does not replace muscular work, it accompanies it for the duration of an effort or a difficult day.
Weight training and carrying loads
For deadlifts, squats or manual handling, you want a wide, rigid belt with strong tightening. Double tightening by side traction lets you adjust the tension with one movement between two sets, without undoing everything.
Working day
For standing or sitting for a long time, a soft, breathable version is more comfortable under clothing. Inflatable models add progressive support: the built-in pump lets you tighten further as fatigue sets in, then release.
Heat and massage
Some belts include a heating pad and sometimes a vibrating massage, powered by USB or battery. They are intended more for end-of-day use, sitting down, than for sports use.
Wearing it properly
The belt is placed over the small of the back, buckle centred, tightened firmly but without cutting off breathing. Avoid wearing it continuously all day: it is made for moments of strain. These are support and comfort items, not medical devices; in case of persistent pain, consult a healthcare professional.
