What to do after the session
Recovery is not one more session: it is what lets you keep going. Three families of tools keep coming back among athletes, and they complement each other more than they replace each other.
Compression
Pressotherapy boots and calf sleeves work by sequential inflation, from the foot towards the thigh. You settle in for twenty minutes, legs straight, doing nothing else. It is the passive option, more for the evening after a big session or a competition.
Percussion and manual massage
Massage gun, roller and stick, on the contrary, require you to target yourself. You go zone by zone, one to two minutes, on the muscles and never on the joints. It is the active option, also useful for warming up, at low speed.
Support during exercise
Taping strips, knee supports and patellar straps do not belong to the post-session but to the session itself: they accompany a stressed joint without blocking the movement.
An order that works
Light stretching and hydration first, then targeted massage, then compression once at rest. Nothing requires doing everything every time. These items are comfort and recovery products, not medical devices; pain that lasts or keeps coming back in the same place deserves the opinion of a healthcare professional.
